Founder's Message

From Joseph Maggio, President & Director of Operations

For over 25 years, I’ve been deeply involved in youth sports across Long Island — not just as a coach or organizer, but as a father, mentor, and community member. I’ve seen firsthand the joy, growth, and confidence that sports can bring to a child’s life. But I’ve also seen the barriers — the rising costs, the pressure, and the missed opportunities for families who simply want their kids to play, learn, and belong.

That’s why I founded L.I. Knights Sports & Athletics.

LIKSA was built with a clear mission: to offer affordable, high-quality, character-driven sports programs that families in Suffolk County can trust. We believe every child deserves a chance to grow in the sport they love — without getting hurt financially, and without losing sight of what really matters.

Too often, athletes are overlooked due to favoritism, politics, or a coach’s lack of experience. Talented kids sit on the bench while others are given opportunities they haven’t earned. At LIKSA, we reject that model. Here, every athlete gets a fair chance — to play, to improve, and to be seen. We build rosters with integrity, and we coach with purpose.

Our programs are designed to develop the whole athlete. We focus on skill, attitude, accountability, and teamwork, creating pathways for kids to improve, lead, and thrive. Whether it’s baseball, swim, lacrosse, or volleyball, we’re committed to building a true development model — one that celebrates effort, honors family, and fosters lasting community.

At LIKSA, we’re not just building teams. We’re building a legacy — one child, one family, one season at a time.

Thank you for being part of it.

— Joseph Maggio
